When I started part 3 last night at 10:30-ish, I had 106 words. When I called it a night at 2:23 a.m., I had 2117 words. Not bad.

EDITED to add that Part 3 is now 4,250 words. I'm going to write for another half hour and call it a night. It's into the home stretch now. A happy ending is in sight. Okay, in sight with really powerful binoculars, but still.

Turtle is tired and asked to be spared posing with his pencil. Being the generous Mistress that I am, permission has been granted.

Part 2 is now complete. The story as a whole is 22,382 22,487 so far (I just tweaked something and got a few extra words). Part 3 will move very quickly because, well, escape is essential for the boys. That 4,000 word estimate I had? Pfft. Gone. I'm done guessing. I'm just going to hope it's done tomorrow night so I can go back and edit Sunday.

Talk about cutting it close.

Let's see...I've done my research, sketched out the last part, spent the week on the bus daydreaming the scenes since I have to have it clear in my head before I can write it.

Oh, and I've gone from Adult Only down to Mature in rating.

It's after 11pm. I'm calling it a night. I'll just send off this latest bit to my First Reader and then log off. By the stroke of midnight Sunday night, I hope to regain my life.

Some of you know I've gotten sucked into the world of reality television. Specifically, Battle of the Blades, which takes hockey players (retired NHL tough guys) and pairs them with retired competitive women pairs skaters. They perform each week and votes + scores determines who comes back for another week. They are doing this for charity.

I just dropped in to update on my fic. My little 12,000 word kink_bigbang fix just hit 20,078 words. That's' not included the 1000 or so words that had to be turfed as a dead end.

At this stage it all wraps up in another *calculates* um, probably 4000 words? Deadline is Sunday. I can do this. Really. I can...I hope.

*note to self: if turtle doesn't run away after this, try to make/steal creatively acquire icon for him*

A section of my kink_bigbang fic had to be turfed. It wasn't going anywhere. I don't mean it wasn't going where I wanted; I mean that it hit a wall and that was that. Nothing.

Well, at least it's moving again, even if I whimpered at deleting that chunk of story.

You know, it's a bit weird writing about a pairing when one of the two hasn't been seen for over 10,000 words. But it seems to work, because of the 'what could have been' aspect. Then again, I know it will be a happy ending, but still. Weird.

Okay, now I best get ready for church, then brunch with Mom, then this afternoon - smut. Dief has been hitting on Ray and Ray is definitely taking notice.

In other news, part deux - I tried to post some CSI fic to a moderated comm, and was rejected because of a 'broken tag'. *sigh* I don't have time to re-do the post. I'm so used to posting, checking if it's all okay and fixing immediately if not. Not my sandbox. Oh, well. Maybe it isn't meant to be. When kink_bigbang is done and my website is FINALLY up and running I'll think about trying again.

I'm sitting at 10,707 words on my story for kink_bigbang. Well, actually there's a lot more words - like over 12K - but that's just snippets, phrases, and random scenes. The Official Turtle Count is actual story. Part one is finished, and part two is well under way. And I am so very inspired, because now there's an artist who stepped forward to provide something pretty to go with the story.

And, I still managed to pull off 3 entries to rounds_of_kink. Go me!

Okay. Back to writing. I just wanted to drop by with an update on Turtle's progress.

Honestly? I'm not sure that I'd do anything all that different. I believe I'd still get up and go to work, have brunch with the girls, pray, play crib with Mom, watch tv, listen to music, read - basically, continue to live my life.

Granted, I might make sure my will was up to date and my estate (such as it is) is in order, but that's wise for anyone at any time.

As to a 'Bucket List', no, I definitely do not have one. It seems to me that if I had only a limited time remaining, spending all my energy on being able to cross items off a list would mean that I was obsessing rather than living. I do admit to having a rather vague "someday" list, but there is nothing on it that must be seen/done/experienced in order for my life to have had meaning.

If there's something needs doing to make my life meaningful, then I should be doing it now. After all, there's no guarantee that I won't be hit by a bus day after tomorrow.

*shrug*

That's just my two cents.

And, weirdly, this also mirrors part of today's homily at Mass. Evidently someone feels I need to think about this. Huh. I wonder if there's something someone wants to prepare me for... *ponder*
